About Us
I have visited the Dominican Republic for the past 7 years. Each year I’ve
enjoyed giving out baseball’s, bats and gloves to the poor kids on the baseball
fields of Caberete and Sosua . In fact it’s been the highlight of my trips. I can
relate as I was very poor growing up in Miami. When I saw the kids playing
with one glove, a taped up baseball and nothing but a big “gracias” and Thank-
You”- I knew in my heart that I had to go back-AND HELP THEM! I’ve helped
the kids in the USA too but we’re lucky, we have the Rotary, Kiwanis,
Exchange Clubs, you name it!!! They have “the Dominican Team for Dreams”,
at this point, or very very little….that’s us!! I am a financial planner, and have
worked very hard, as I have very little talent (it took me a while to figure this
out ) So it’s time to make a difference to give back, pay it forward….So, I’ve
“adopted” a school (Luperon in Sosua, Dominican Republic), a clinic which
was used for trash storage and a baseball field next door. Yes, the school is
already made over 75% the clinic 100 % and hopefully Dominican major
league player will partner up with me for the baseball field (over 350 kids play
here). On my last trip I discovered a new school (across town) that is MUCH
poorer than Luperon. I met with the principal and made a list of needs (it’s in
Spanish) and now that I’m an expert on “Americanizing” schools (getting
toilets working, getting drinking water running, getting the clinic’s working
with medicine, getting a library with books in it). I’m going to “tackle” this
school (Julio Arzenio) and make the kids and teacher’s smile!! This little
Dominican girl came up to me at this school, she knew why I was there. She
handed me a little crayon art picture. It was a bunch of connecting the dots,
you know what I mean, she handed it to me and said ”Dios biendega” (God
bless you)-That makes it ALL worth while

MISSION/SERVICES: I started this project (Dominican Team for Dreams, Inc)
by myself. I think the Lord sent a Dominican guy to help me. We met in a bank
parking lot. He expects nothing and donates his time to my Vision. Ironically,
his name is” Jesus” (Perdomo). We now have a team to do School Make-Over’
s! You know, the basics-Running water for toilets, drinking. A clinic, with
medicine for the sick Kids because when they go home from school sick,
they HAVE NOTHING to help them get better. The unsanitary conditions also
make illness much more prevalent than the USA. Setting up a library is
something the US AID (US Chamber of Commerce) is going to assist me in
and for every $2.00 we put in they will match it with $1.00!! I have a new
school (Julio Arzenio) that is so very poor and needs my/our help!! So, if you’
d like to get involved, come on down and help. You fly into Puerto Plata
(POP); I’ll pick you up at the airport and take you to Casa Marina Hotel-right
next door and only $65/per night all-inclusive. You can also contribute and it
will be 100% tax-deductible and I’ll get you a report of where your money was
used, a picture and a receipt for your taxes.
Thanks and God Bless, Rogelio.
